BEL Valves will be hosting a two day “Valve fundamentals” course on 19th and 20th of September 2012. This course provides an understanding of valve design, function and testing; and is essential for any customers or clients who feel the need to expand their knowledge of valves.

The Conference has become one of the largest international forums and meeting grounds for the Subsea environment. UTC is a widely recognized conference which attracts participants from all parts of the international petroleum community. More than 700 delegates and 50 exhibitors are expected to attend the event in Bergen, Norway 13-14th of June 2012. Delegates at UTC are Executives, Managers, Engineers and other strategic and planning personnel related to the subsea field of the petroleum industry.

Annual TDR Awards Evening

The annual company presentation evening took place on Tuesday 28^th March 2012 and was held in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite at St James Park. Awards were received by some of our apprentices and presentations made to employees celebrating 25 years service.

Those receiving apprentice awards were:

Those receiving awards were invited to bring friends and relations and they were joined by senior managers from across the company to enjoy both the presentation and hospitality.

Alex Lamb, Chairman of British Engines (UK) Ltd, presented the awards and offered his congratulations on behalf of the company. During his welcoming speech he gave his thanks to those celebrating 25 years service and went on to say that he recognised the achievements of all those receiving awards and the contribution they have made to the company.

Another successful OPITO Event

On 21^st March 2012 BEL Valves was represented again at OPITO’s Energise Your Future. The event was aimed at getting children and young adults (ages ranging from 13 to around 21) interested and informed about career opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

The day was split into two sessions: a daytime session where multiple schools attended bringing pupils aged from 13 to 17; and an evening session where anybody either from a school that did not attend, or from college/university could come and discover the career opportunities in the industry.

Joining BEL Valves were a number of other companies from the industry, such as NOF Energy, TDR, Statoil UK, Total; as well as Northumberland College and Northumbria University.

The day got pupils involved in different activities with each company; ranging from oil and gas specific activities, to general problem solving, to companies demonstrating the jobs they carry out within the industry.

The day was a huge success with over 600 pupils attending during the daytime session and a further 100 visitors in the evening.
